PAUSE Webinar – October 9th

Speaker: Dr. Katherine Martin
North Carolina State University
Title: Ecosystem services of changing landscapes
Abstract: Ongoing changes in the climate system are inexorably linked to an increasingly urbanized human society characterized by entrenched systemic inequities. With all that in mind, what will be the story of the future? Using field observations, large datasets, remote sensing, and simulation models, my research group focuses on the potential role of vegetation in mitigating global change and providing ecosystem services to an expanding section of stakeholders. We particularly focus on the hydrologic cycle, including water supplies and water quality. Our goal is to provide options of achievable future conditions stakeholders can evaluate to write the roadmap to the future. In this seminar, I will give a few examples of changing landscapes and hydrology and welcome your questions and feedback.
