PAUSE Webinar – June 12th

Speaker: Dr. Carli Arendt
North Carolina State University
Title: What water chemistry can teach us about changing ice and climate
Abstract: The geochemical signatures of water in rapidly changing icy environments provide insights to melt sources, water-rock interaction time, changing nutrient contributions, and weathering signatures. Meltwater chemistry places constraints on climate processes and feedbacks and has a direct impact on downstream and adjacent ecosystems. Water compositions associated with icy climates are changing as the planet warms. Monitoring and modeling variations in meltwater chemistry allows scientists to gain clarity on the past, better understand the present, and improve predictions of future trends.
