Title: Silent Crises: Environmental Justice and Air Pollution – An Emerging Technology
Abstract: The intersection of environmental justice and air pollution has emerged as a critical concern in recent years. This talk will explore and highlight the urgency of addressing the silent crises surrounding environmental justice and air pollution through the lens of emerging technologies. Air pollution, stemming from various sources such as industrial facilities, transportation, and energy production, poses significant health risks to communities worldwide. It is increasingly evident that these risks are not distributed equally. GIS technology provides a powerful tool for analyzing, visualizing, and addressing these disparities. Through spatial analysis, GIS can identify areas with elevated pollution levels, pinpoint sources of contamination, and assess their proximity to marginalized communities. This approach allows for evidence-based decisionmaking and the development of targeted policies to mitigate environmental injustices.
