PAUSE Webinar – July 10th

Speaker: Dr. Stacy Zhang
North Carolina State University
Title: How do hurricanes affect fish and habitat?
Abstract: In the last decade alone, coastal North Carolina (USA) has been impacted by over a dozen hurricanes that have caused substantial damage to human infrastructure, but what happens underwater? Are coastal fishes and habitats resistant to, or recovering from, these massive natural disturbances? Global change is predicted to increase the severity of hurricanes, so what may the long-term impacts be? And how do we conserve and restore shorelines in a way that maximizes their natural abilities to protect coastal communities and ecosystems?
