Title: Combating plastic pollution to avoid climate change with innovative sensing technology
Abstract: Plastic pollution and climate change are linked as plastic emits greenhouse gases during its lifecycle from production to decay. Climate change plays an important role in enhancing the spread of plastic that affects life on Earth, ocean and freshwater. Bioplastics are a great alternative to combat pollution and manage waste effectively. We have developed a bioplastic based colorimetric sensor that detects food expiry and can be observed by the naked eye. It’s a safe technology for application in the food being eco friendly for its utilization from wrapping food, sensing its freshness to decomposition. Micro plastics emerging from it or climate change spreading it to sea will not affect sea life as it’s safe and digestible.
